The Crypto Market’s Are Dumping? Too Many Sellers

What’s Wrong With The Crypto Market’s? Too Many Sellers

Bitcoin has retraced almost the entire post US election rally and is now trading at its lowest level since that period. Recent price action briefly wicked below the April lows, a technical signal that has caught the attention of both traders and long term investors.

More importantly, momentum has deteriorated in a way that matters. During previous drawdowns this cycle, the daily RSI fell below 30 and each rebound managed to reclaim levels above 70. In the most recent rebound, however, RSI failed to push back above 70 for the first time this cycle. That breakdown signals weakening upside follow through and suggests that rallies are losing structural strength rather than resetting for continuation.

This shift in momentum matters because it suggests the problem is not isolated to one group of sellers or one temporary catalyst. Selling pressure is now visible across the market structure.

Long Dormant Holders Are Distributing Again

One of the clearest signals of broad based selling is the reactivation of long dormant wallets. A Bitcoin OG recently sold after holding for more than 12 years, locking in over 31,000 percent profit. While individual events like this often grab headlines, the more important takeaway is that this behavior is not isolated.

On chain data shows long term holder supply has been declining, while spent output age bands have ticked higher throughout 2025 and into early 2026. Translation: older cohorts are distributing again. Many long term holders appear to be taking advantage of liquidity to exit positions rather than adding exposure.

And this is not just a Bitcoin story in the crypto market’s

Ethereum Is Seeing Similar Behavior

Large Ethereum wallets have also been selling aggressively. Data shared on X highlights numerous wallets holding more than 150 million dollars worth of ETH selling over recent weeks. This aligns with ETH’s underperformance and reinforces the idea that the current selling wave is systemic rather than asset specific.

The uncomfortable question raised by some market participants is why high profile insiders like Vitalik appear to be selling into weakness. Regardless of interpretation, the behavior itself adds to near term supply and weighs on sentiment.

Institutional Hesitation Is Reducing Marginal Demand

Institutional positioning is another important part of the picture. While headlines have focused on quantum computing risks and potential threats to legacy cryptography, several prominent analysts argue that quantum concerns are not the primary driver of the current selloff.

Instead, the issue appears to be allocation hesitation. Uncertainty around Bitcoin’s long term upgrade path, combined with broader macro weakness, has made institutions less aggressive at the margin. Even when institutions are not actively selling, reduced allocation and slower inflows matter when supply is rising elsewhere.

When demand pauses while distribution accelerates, price weakness becomes structural rather than emotional.

ETF Flows Are No Longer Providing Support

ETF demand has softened noticeably. Bitcoin ETF assets under management have been trending lower, with recent daily flows skewing negative. This removes one of the strongest demand pillars that supported price earlier in the cycle.

At the same time, digital asset treasuries have been active sellers. According to Messari, selling pressure intensified following the October flash crash, with average daily BTC sales reaching roughly 15 billion dollars. That kind of consistent supply is difficult for the market to absorb without sustained institutional inflows.

Retail demand is not stepping in to fill the gap. While retail participation has improved slightly from extreme lows, volume remains deeply negative relative to previous cycles. The result is a market where sellers dominate and buyers remain cautious.

Miners Are Adding to the Pressure

Miner behavior has become a key factor in sustaining selling pressure. Bitcoin hash rate has been declining at a notable pace, and the market is increasingly connecting this trend to miners reallocating capital toward AI related opportunities.

The incentive structure is straightforward. Post halving profitability has been squeezed, and AI compute is increasingly viewed as a higher return use of capital. As a result, some miners are reducing exposure to Bitcoin mining economics, selling reserves to fund new investments or cover operational costs.

This is not just theoretical. Reports show mining revenue hitting historic lows while physical infrastructure is being sold or repurposed for AI workloads. That transition creates additional spot supply during periods of market stress.

From a market structure perspective, miner stress often matters most near turning points. While miner stress remains elevated, the pace of revenue decline has begun to slow. Historically, that kind of stabilization can precede a reduction in forced selling, but confirmation takes time.

Until miner economics stabilize more clearly, miner driven supply remains an active pressure source.

Final Thoughts On The Crypto Market’s

With multiple seller cohorts active and demand still weak, downside risk remains elevated. Rallies are likely to remain shallow until forced selling slows and marginal demand improves.

Historically, more durable market lows tend to form once miner stress stabilizes and long term holder distribution tapers off. Until those conditions are met, patience and selective risk management make more sense than assuming every bounce represents a structural turn.

This is no longer a story about one narrative breaking or one group panicking. It’s the crypto market’s full reset in positioning. And until supply dynamics change, sellers remain firmly in control.
